Blondies Recipe

Rich, chewy blondies packed with caramel flavors and a hint of chocolate.
Blondies Recipe

Blondies are the delightful cousin of brownies, often referred to as 'blonde brownies' because of their lighter color. These rich, chewy bars are loaded with a deep caramel flavor, courtesy of brown sugar and butter, and are often studded with chocolate chips, nuts, or even swirls of peanut butter.

Originating in the United States, blondies have become a beloved treat across the globe. While they share some common ingredients with brownies, the absence of cocoa powder makes all the difference, yielding a unique and delicious dessert. Whether you want a sweet treat for a picnic, potluck, or just a quiet night in, blondies are a fantastic choice!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups (400g) packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (175g) chocolate chips or chunks

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang on the sides to easily lift the blondies out of the pan once baked.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and brown sugar. Whisk until smooth and well-combined.
  3. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Whisk in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the salt, baking powder, and flour. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  5. Fold in Add-ins: Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using), being careful not to overmix.
  6. Spread Batter: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
  7. Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the blondies are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs.
  8. Cool and Cut: Allow the blondies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Once cooled, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the blondies out of the pan and transfer them to a cutting board. Cut into squares or rectangles as desired.

Enjoy your freshly baked blondies as a delightful dessert or snack. For a twist, try adding different mix-ins like white chocolate chips, toffee pieces, or a swirl of peanut butter. Blondies are also delicious when served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
