Instructions
- Prepare ingredients: Make sure all ingredients are measured and ready to use. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
- Melt butter: In a large pot, melt 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter over low heat. Stir occasionally to avoid burning.
- Add marshmallows: Once the butter is fully melted, add the 10 oz of marshmallows to the pot. Stir constantly until the marshmallows have completely melted and are well combined with the butter.
- Mix in vanilla and salt (optional): For extra flavor, you can now add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to the melted marshmallow mixture, and stir until fully incorporated.
- Add crispy rice cereal: Remove the pot from heat and immediately add 6 cups of crispy rice cereal to the pot. Gently fold the cereal into the melted marshmallow mixture until all of the cereal is evenly coated.
- Transfer mixture to baking dish: Carefully pour the mixture into the greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Use a buttered spatula or waxed paper to evenly press the mixture into the dish without compacting it too tightly.
- Cool and set: Allow the mixture to cool and set at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before cutting into squares.
- Cut and serve: Once set, cut the treats into 16 squares using a sharp knife. Serve and enjoy!
